We helped design and develop SMART Binoculars and Camera solutions that included industrial design, electronic Design, AI hardware and ASIC integration. Our contribution to the development of the Smart Binoculars for Bird Watching, based on the Qualcomm QCS605 platform, is a key part of the success of this innovative product.

Our role​

  • Camera Sensor & Linux Drivers

    • Developed and optimized camera sensor drivers for Android 9, utilizing V4L2 (Video for Linux 2) controls for seamless camera integration.

  • Qualcomm Camera (CamX) HAL

    • We tailored the Qualcomm Camera (CamX) HAL to integrate the camera module with precision, ensuring optimal functionality for various imaging requirements.

  • Camera Pipeline & Image Capture

    • A robust camera pipeline was implemented to capture high-quality Image & Video in YUV, JPEG, and H264/265 formats. We focused on fine-tuning the Image Capture Pipeline to capture a 13MP image in less than 150ms, ensuring fast and accurate performance in critical nature-watching scenarios.

  • Hardware Design:

    • Schematics & Layout Design, performed Signal Integrity (SI) and Thermal Analysis, and executed board bring-up, EDVT (Engineering Development Validation Testing), and Pre-scan testing. Our team ensured that all hardware components worked harmoniously.

  • Prototype Production

    • Our team oversaw Prototype Production, delivering a fully functioning pre-production version of the smart binoculars, ready for real-world testing and consumer deployment.

  • Certification Support

    • We provided full support for obtaining necessary certifications including CE and FCC, ensuring the device meets all regulatory and safety standards for market release.

  • Location Accuracy with IMU Sensor & GPS

    • The IMU Sensor and GPS work together to pinpoint the user's location and the direction of objects of interest, which is crucial for outdoor activities

  • Seamless Data Transfer via WiFi & BLE

    • The product supports WiFi and BLE connectivity to effortlessly transfer photos and videos to companion mobile applications.
